Electro Music Blogs
Seems like all the blogs are doing their thang this week with year-end “Top Of” posts but since I haven’t been blogging a full year yet, it wouldn’t be kosher to present a Top Songs of 2008 list. Instead, I’ll present you my undeniable, right on, you can’t argue with this shit: Top 8 Clubbin’ Blogs of 2008!

Top 8 Clubbin’ Blogs of 2008

#8 – Outrageous! @ outrageoushousemusic.blogspot.com
Outrageous! makes it into the top eight by squeezing past our honorable mentions. Its a nice blog with good potential. I’ve been reading music blogs a lot longer than I’ve been writing for one, and I’d love to see these guys continue to do their thang in 2009.

Honorable Mentions: Sundtrak, Redthreat, Dino Roc

#7 – Remix Land @ remixland.blogspot.com
I actually almost left Remix Land out of the top eight because their music selection has been off the latter part of this year, but even though I opted to post them in the seven spot because they have a solid track record of providing a shit ton of music for us to sample and I’m looking forward to hearing what’s in store from their new cast of resident deejays/writers.

#6 – Palms Out Sounds @ palmsout.blogspot.com
When you think of Palms Out you envision blogging’s supreme perennial super power, but even super powers lose their standing when Bad Google steps in. The Palms Out crew has steadily gone downhill for the last several months, but don’t blame all of this on the absence of Remix Sunday. Here’s to hoping they’ll be back on top in 2009.

#5 – Crux Da House @ cruxdahouse.blogspot.com
I would have never imagined throwing a record label on this chart (and in the Top 5), but that’s exactly what I’m doing with Crux Da House. These fellas know how to connect business with pleasure, and they’re doing a damn good job. Introducing Crux Blanc to the mix was massive and I hope other labels follow suit in 2009.

#4 – Stoney Roads @ www.stoneyroads.com
The Aussies at Stoney Roads have an ear for cutting edge music, and I always check their blog to see what’s on the horizon. If you ever wondered what blog house is (and didn’t get a chance to read the wiki), these guys represent the forefront of the movement as I see it… (blog house is electronic dance music made popular by wide acceptance and praise in the blogs) These guys are at the top of the food chain, i.e. a Stoney Roads endorsement is gold.

# 3 – d squared @ www.danideahl.com/wordpress
Sassy lil Dani Deahl out of the Windy City is good doing d squared. I’ve never heard her spin, but I’m sure I would enjoy her show because I absolutely love about 99% of what she posts on her blog. I’m also a big fan of the photography she posts. If you’re an artsy edm lover like me, you’ll love d squared.

#2 – White Folks Get Crunk @ www.whitefolksgetcrunk.com
DJ Real Juicy comes in second but not for lack of effort. It was a real close call. If you’re familiar with White Folks Get Crunk, then you know DJ Real Juicy posts some of the industry’s hottest hip hop and r&b remixed with an electro sound. I appreciate the crossover, and I look forward to welcoming DJ Real Juicy to the Lou real soon.

Top Clubbin’ Blog of 2008

#1 – Digital Eargasm @ digitaleargasm.blogspot.com
The best spot on the web, IMHO, for electronic dance music is Digital Eargasm. Darryl Von Rock of Maine runs the hottest blog under the sun this year. With a nice and simple theme, he doesn’t disappoint. Nice music selection, relevant content, and newsworthy posts. I particularly enjoy checking Digital Eargasm on a daily basis because I know they don’t overpost (post just to post) or try to fool you by uploading a bunch of shitty music… they’ve definitely got the whole “quality over quanity with plenty to choose from” on lockdown. That’s why they are king of the hill in 08.

My 2008 rant of the year: WTF happened to Missing Toof? They posted a comment a while back stating they’d be back in a bit, but that was ages ago. Like I said… WTF?

Already added "Three One Oh" to my rss feed. Nice find! Thanks!
  • chroznack
no worries....i only read two or three a day, that being, the two i mentioned above and digital eargasm, i prefer quality over quantity as well and with these three blogs, i get pure quality as well quantity. For the most part each blog posts the same type of music, yet they don't repeat each others post. glad to see that u read the comments and u accept the feedback. your most def in my top ten!

Chroznack: I'll definitely check these out. I'm already reading 20 music blogs a day, but I'm always looking for a fresh perspective.

Each blog on the list is top notch (all for its own reason, i.e. no set criteria). I think I'll list nine next year... lol

Wow...that is very nice of you! I can't believe some of the blogs that you listed us above. I would have been honored just to make your honorable mention list.

You certainly have down my philosophy for the blog, (the "quality over quantity" part). I never wanted to be known as just a linkdump, and I'm really glad that at least one person doesn't think that. You have really made my day, and I see that we will have to stay focused and work even harder to keep our top spot because there are some really nice music blogs out there, including yours.

    Thanks again!!
