Chicago’s very own Ghetto Division has been working hard as well as playing hard and they are  proud to unveil Ghetto Division Records, Chicago’s newest contributor to the dance music scene.  Ghetto Division has seen press and attention the world over, for their tracks on labels Mad Decent, Nightshifters.  The debut release is a self-titled nine-track LP out May 25th and The Ghetto Division LP will be available digitally online through Beatport as well as other digital stores.

Each and every year my bro DJ Madmonk throws a benefit for Toys for Tots. Eash year it has been a great success and if you’re in or coming through the STL this weekend, help us make it a success again this year by dropping off a toy. This events raises more for Toys for Tots than any other local entertainment event, so be a part of something bigger than yourself and make your way to SOL on Saturday.

Where are you headed this weekend?

I’m thinking about putting together a mixtape podcast with weekly updates or something like that… whatcha think? I’m sure it will be a chore, but that won’t stop us! We’re excited about all the rad features in the works (or at least in our heads… lol), and getting the podcast up and running is on the top of our list… that’s if you’re interested…

Speaking of new features, I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed this week’s first edition of Sunday Skool with Pappy Andrews. Homeboi knows his roots and he’s going to be a great addition to the site. We’re also considering adding one or two more writers, so hit us up and give us your pitch. What’s in it for you? We’ve had a lot of fun sharing new electro dance music over these last 102 posts and we’re looking forward to keeping the streak in tact. If you’re new here, check out our Top 8 Clubbin Blogs. Our list went viral last year and got killer kudos. I’m psyched to put out updated rankings in December (can you say tease?). Our most popular post to date was “Smoke Jumpers – My Flow So Tight.” We actually hit Google Trends for that one, and peeps just couldn’t get enough. But for real, my favorites have been the interviews with djs & producers.

Big ups to our new friends Savi and Jeff T, and old friends too many to name here. Totally Rad Thursdays has been rocking 609 in University City since the beginning of the new year. We started out with an indie electro crunk vibe (much like what you see and hear here) then in April we began showcasing some of the hottest house deejays from the local scene. This month we’re bringing in even more top-notch local talent, but in June we’re going to do a 360° on yo ass with something fresh and new for the STL. Of course, you’ll have to keep checking back because I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet, but I will say you’re in for a treat!

If you were looking for something to do last night, you should have stopped by the Upstairs Lounge for a lil Dirty Money with up-and-coming producer Phaseone. Phaseone has been getting press lately, and his name is all about town. Of course, we’re always down to rep hometown producers and deejays.
