A few weeks ago, I talked about Abracadabra Records and Retro/Grade, but this post is all about an update not repeating. Retro/Grade has dropped their new Moda/Pulsar EP–some of you Pete Tong fans might know that he made Pulsar his third runner-up for the Essential Tune of the Week. To follow up on Serge Santiago and Tom Neville’s Retro/Grade project I have some goodies here-a chart, a video, and a sweet bootleg of Herbie Hancock’s classic “Rockit” all mashed up with Pulsar!
As for Abracadabra Records–the label is on a tear of great releases with new singles from The Aikiu and Mikix the Cat. “Just Can’t Sleep” has been making the rounds a bit, and the Mighty Mouse Remix is posted. This remix has driving bassline and check the pan-pipes! The latest single from the label is Mikix the Cat’s “The Key.” The track is killer a dancefloor stormer that features the vocals of Shannon, who you might recognize from the forever anthemic club hit “Let the Music Play.” The DubTech remix is one of three from the EP-all of the versions of the song are excellent, and the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team re-imagines the whole track.
