Ask anyone in St. Louis about Home Nightclub and you’re sure to get an opinion. The club has had its share of negative reviews including edm relegated to the lounge, ghetto ass patrons, and c-list talent, but you’ve got to give it up to the guys at Angel Music Group (Home’s management company) because this weekend marks their one year anniversary, and that’s a major accomplishment here in the Lou.
There’s a new wave of electro sweeping across the country and you would have to be living under a rock not to notice. Unfortunately, everyone and their mom has their own definition of electro, but rest assured I’m not writing about that old school, 80’s, put your ass to sleep sound.
I know you know LMFAO. Their remix of Kayne West’s electro-inspired “Love Lockdown” has been the banger of 2008. In fact, its well on its way to receiving over 3 million plays on MySpace, a feat usually only accomplished by major acts. Still can’t believe we got to see these guys play 609…
Forget about LMFAO for a second because I want to introduce you to Baltimore’s Oh Snap!!. Part deejay and part performer, Oh Snap!! is booty electro’s next big deal. His vibrant sound, goofy lyrics, and self-deprecating humor make him one to watch.
