Hi everyone, this is Pappy Andrews and welcome back to Sunday Skool. More than an actual “article”, the class for this week is more like a “re-post”. I am re-posting an article I’ve read and discussed in several forums, blogs and parties over the past few weeks. Of course I’ve added some pics, videos and mp3s… So, I hope this will get all of you thinking about the “origins” of this thing we call EDM (Electronic Dance Music) or “House Music”. As for most of you, EDM — in all of its glory and insurmountable sub-genres like: House, Techno, Tribal, Breaks, Disco, UK Garage, Vocal House, Funky, Deep, Bassline, Tech, Fidget, Wobble, Blog, Electro, Circuit, Trance Minimal, and on and on and on and on– literally changed my life almost 20 years ago. I know for a fact that I am not the only one with the same experience… here’s how I know:
Seamus Haji recently remixed it.
Frank Broughton wrote a book about it.
And every one of you who have stood in the middle of the dance floor when the vibe was really burnin’… knows exactly what I’m talking about.
This article discusses a different angle of the origins of EDM than the origin that most think of or refer to which is – DISCO! No, this article discusses how PUNK ROCK was a major influence on Electronic Dance Music. Whaaa?
